After reading the article on Design Assembly a few weeks ago by Joshua Swanbeck I downloaded the ShakeItPhoto app for my iPhone. It's brilliant and produces some great effects. Here are some images from over the past couple of weeks.
I haven't done one of these in ages! Another gig poster for Bronze Medals.
As usual If you're in Nuneaton, go to this gig.
A bit more analogue love for the Pentax, here are the results of accidentally buying a black and white film.
A year ago those lovely people at Victionary got in touch and asked If they could feature my S.A.D T-shirts in their newest publication Design • Play. I was delighted to be asked and graciously accepted. The book was deliverd yesterday and It's really lovely containing some fantastic, fun work. I'd just like to say thank you for letting me be a part of it.
I recently managed to purchase an old Pentax 3ME Super and have been getting to grips with using a film camera again. I remember now why I wanted to be a photographer so much in college. Hopefully practice will make perfect (eventually), but in the mean time below are some of the first shots. All that's left to say is Happy New Year everyone and I'll see you in 2010.
That's right, I've changed the format of my site yet again. The good news is that now it is much easier to update (so I have no excuses). Check back for updates regularly.
I was recently lucky enough to have an article I'd written posted on Design Assembly. For anyone who isn't familiar, "Design Assembly is an interactive discussion forum managed by industry professionals for fellow creatives." It's a design blog that offers more than just a couple of nice pictures and a paragraph of text. Have a read of the article here.
The latest poster for Bronze Medals' gig at the Crown Inn.
If you're in Nuneaton go to this gig.
I have been lucky enough to be included in a book entitled 3D Typography for a project I did whilst studying at university.
It was an experimentation with perspective to visually represent Dazzle camouflage used on battleships in World War I.
Each letter consists of a number of card shapes that, when viewed from the correct angle spelt out HMS.
I was asked by the three members of Bronze Medals to design a logo and promotional material for the band. Have a listen to them on this link. More to follow...
Okay, this isn't anything I've personally been working on, but I do feel that I've become emotionally attached to the 'project' over the past couple of months.
My two mates Harry and Matt are entering the Wacky Rally this year. The gist of it is to drive to Budapest in a car costing £250 or less that's been pimped to the nines. As you can see they choose to buy an Espace and create a fully functioning mobile disco for the occasion, including strobe, bubble machine and dance floor.
Most importantly the guys are looking to raise £1000 for local Bath charity The Rainbow Trust. If you'd kindly click this link and give what you can I'm sure they'd really appreciate your support.
I've recently had quite a few e-mails requesting to buy the SAD T-shirts so I thought I'd get them back up on here to explain.
This was a project completed in my final year of university for a mate of mine suffering from seasonal affective disorder. The cloud is printed with heat sensitive ink which disappears to reveal the sun at 32 degrees.
Unfortunately they're not for sale as I only produced 3 limited prints. Unless I can find kindly retailer to produce them for me, the SAD T-shirt has had its day in the sun.
I'm currently working on an Identity for fashion knitwear designer Hannah Buswell. More to follow shortly. View the website here.
I've never been a fan of horse racing, but once a year it's a bit of a family tradition to lose a couple of quid on the Grand National.
I couldn't help noticing this year how colourful the jockey's silks were. It's prompted me to do a bit of geeky information design documenting this year's race. Watch this space for updates.
I was asked recently to design a couple of posters for the bands Planes Over People and Youves for their gigs at the Crown Inn. Check out their Myspace pages and have a listen.
I've been taking pictures of these farm signs every time I go back home to Nuneaton. It's great to see how they have evolved over the past 12 months. That's diversification for you!
I've been doing some spring cleaning recently including an overhaul of this site. Hopefully I'm going to update it as much as possible so check back regularly.
During my clean up I came across a load of old photographs on my hard drive, so I thought I'd get them up on here to start the ball rolling.
